This isn't a thread about your national pastime, it's a deeply philosophical thread about the nature of mankind. I'm a very thoughtful person, and as I was driving home in my hot hatch (2L turbo diesel, 178bhp) I was mulling over why it was that the NC never took the fight to IT, but allowed themselves to play the passive defensive role. IT were on the ropes, and even after their unprecedented comeback to claim Fountain they were extremely exposed. Their weary soldiers and leaders had been to hell and back (you could see it in their eyes) and NC with all their wealth and cameraderie would have been able to steamroll them with comparative ease. Yet still they did not dare. So ok, let's fast forward a few weeks. A masterstroke opportunistic move allowed IT to crush Goons overnight and wipe them off the sov map, yet still they had no tactical advantage. Goons, the recently displaced PL and the NC could easily have joined forces and SMITE walloped poor, bedraggled IT in one decisive move. Yet still they did not dare. Even when Goons had been destroyed, IT still had a huge territorial and infrastructure disadvantage over the bloated and wealthy NC, and were ripe for a counter-insurgency in Delve or Fountain. Yet still they did not... ungh forget it, that's a rubbish catchphrase, and I'm overdoing it. As I think back over the many years in which I've shaped and moulded Eve, pulling strings and directing the pieces on this chess board, it occurs to me that there have alwyas been two very distinct types of players. Actually I hadn't really thought it through. There are 3! Three tyes of players (oh god this post is getting long now and I'm running out of energy to finish it). 1. The Big Game: Players like Molle and Lilan Kahn who refuse to just be passengers on this ride. They stand up, grab history by the scruff of its neck, and they shake it until it submits to their will. 2. The Vultures: At times parasitic (Goons) at times ruthless, focused opportunistic scavengers (Burn Eden). These players will never never be center stage, but they're always lurking around where the big boys are playing. Aaargh I hate making long posts on CAOD as the text scrolls out of view in the tiny preview pane and you can't see what you've written... 3. The Sheep: Typically herd together for safety in numbers, like the NC. All pretty much look alike. Hard to distinguish one individual from another or to recall any of them by name. Look like they all have at least 2 stomachs. Can co-exist happily in huge quantities simply due to their unwillingness to stick their head above the pa****t, rock the boat and to challenge each other in any way. Let's keep this thread on topic, as I can't help thinking that some of you guys are just posting here to troll. Why do the rest of you think that the NC did not dare to attack IT, despite the fact that they had all of the advantage?
